EXCURSIONS

Excursions are optional, the alternative is to stay at the house enjoying the pool and other amenities or spend time at the beach in Salobrena or exploring the town.

We will either do 2 classes in the morning, lunch at home with free time then leave; or one morning class, excursion and second class at night.

Transportation is included in the price of excursion (2 vans and drivers) and add-ons are of course optional.

Note that this list isn't the final schedule and is subject to changes as I will make a more detailed schedule closer to the date.

It is to give you an idea of where we will go and do before signing up.

NERJA AND PLAYA DE LA BURRIANA $40

-Nerja is a picturesque whitewashed coastal town, it beautifully balances its roots as a traditional Andalusian fishing village with its status as a vibrant holiday destination. Unlike some of its western neighbors on the coast, Nerja has successfully resisted towering high-rise developments, preserving its historic charm and authentic Spanish atmosphere. You will enjoy amazing views on the Mediteranean sea on the Balcon de Europa, and stroll the pedestrian streets of the historic center.

- We will then walk along the coast (30min) to playa de la Burriana, to have a local lunch in a beach restaurant (Chirringuitos), swim and relax on sun beds (lunch and sunbeds included in the price)

-Enjoy several hours of free-time in Granada city center, I will provide you with maps and an itinirary (Realjo, Paseo de los tristes, Granada Cathedral)

-OR

Some free time in the city and visit of the Alhambra. I put the Alhambra as an add on (tickets are 23 euros) but I highly recommend it. It is one of the most visited monuments in Spain, a stunning palace and fortress complex, built during the 13th and 14th centuries by the Nasrid dynasty. It is a UNESCO world heritage site and  it is the world's best-preserved medieval Islamic palatine city, combining  breathtaking Moorish architecture, brilliant ancient engineering, and a unique blend of Islamic and Christian history.

THE ALHAMBRA Architectural and Artistic Masterpiece  The Nasrid Palaces feature stunning geometric tilework, carved stucco, and honeycomb vaulting called muqarnas that catch light and shadow.   Poetry on Walls: Many walls are carved with actual Arabic poems and verses from the Quran, turning the physical building into a work of literary art.  Light and Water: Builders used reflective pools, trickling water channels, and open lattice windows to create a sensory paradise Genius Engineering Ancient Air Conditioning: Master hydraulic engineers diverted the Daro River miles upstream to create a gravity-fed water system that cooled the rooms through natural evaporation. Seismic Resilience: The fortress walls use compacted earth and specialized foundations that have helped the structure survive numerous earthquakes over centuries. Cultural and Historical Symbol Last Muslim Stronghold: Built by the Nasrid dynasty in the 13th and 14th centuries, it was the final governing Islamic territory in Spain before falling to the Catholic Monarchs in 1492. East Meets West: Following the Reconquista, Christian rulers preserved much of the Islamic design while adding distinct Renaissance elements, such as the Webroot Classification: green Palace of Charles V. Romantic Legacy: Abandoned and nearly ruined over subsequent centuries, the site was revived in the 19th century by writers like Washington Irving, capturing the global imagination.

GRANADA: ALBAYZIN, DINNER AND FLAMENCO SHOW $65-75

-The Albaicín 2.5 hours

(also spelled Albayzín) is the oldest and most atmospheric neighborhood in Granada.

Perched on a steep hillside directly facing the legendary Alhambra,  this UNESCO World Heritage site preserves the medieval street grid, whitewashed houses, and secret walled gardens of its Moorish past.

Wandering through its labyrinthine, cobblestone alleys feels like stepping back into the Nasrid Kingdom.

Optional add-on (45 euros): 90min session in the Moorish baths

-We will then walk to the sacromonte caves for a Flamenco experience and dinner (2.5 hours):

Experiencing a dinner and flamenco show inside a cave is one of the most distinctive cultural traditions in southern Spain. This unique spectacle is called Zambra Mora, a traditional form of flamenco born in the Sacromonte caves of Granada, directly neighboring the Albaicín.

Unlike standard theater performances, you are seated just inches away from the performers inside a whitewashed, subterranean cave dug straight out of the hillside.

ALMUNECAR, PLAYA CALAHONDA $20

We will first go to Almunecar, old town (Barrio San Miguel)

  • A steep, quiet labyrinth of whitewashed houses completely closed off to cars. with narrow alleys.

  • The chaotic energy of the beach fades into the quiet, slow-paced murmur of local neighborhood life.

  • Every winding path naturally pulls your footsteps upward toward the ancient stone castle walls.

Add-on $30-40:

Pottery workshop at centro del Alfareria.

Centro de Alfarería Municipal (El Altillo) sits inside an ancient building built directly into the medieval castle walls of the old quarter. This historic workshop preserves thousands of years of local clay-crafting tradition, dating back to the Phoenician and Roman settlers who used clay vessels to export goods across the Mediterranean. Taking a class here allows you to learn traditional Moorish and Nasrid wheel-throwing techniques in a quiet, authentic artisan courtyard.

- We will then enjoy the sun and the waves at Beach de la Calahonda.
